My cardboard-coloured dreams

Are there any wild animals in this country which look like prarie dogs? Or small rabbits with no ears and long tails? Or maybe giant gerbils?

Because I just nearly ran two of them over.

I guess they might have been ginger kittens with their ears flattened down, but they looked a bit too fat and their tails seemed to fluff out at the end.
